## About this trip

Two very different kinds of wonder in one day out of Bangalore: a 112-foot Adiyogi bust that asks you to slow down, and a 16th-century temple whose pillars, murals and monolithic bull have been pulling people in for five hundred years.

We roll out of the city at 6 AM and drive north into Andhra Pradesh. First stop is Lepakshi, where the Veerabhadra Temple carries some of the finest Vijayanagara-era stonework anywhere: vivid ceiling murals, the famous hanging pillar that clears the floor, and just outside the complex, the giant monolithic Nandi. A short hop away, the Jataayu spot gives you open country views and its enormous bird sculpture.

The afternoon belongs to the Isha Yoga Center, where the Adiyogi sits against the Chikkaballapur hills. There is time to walk the grounds, sit quietly if that is what you came for, and stay on for sunset and the evening light and sound show before the drive home.

Travel is by private vehicle with a trip captain along, and state permits, tolls and driver charges are covered. Meals, snacks and any entry fees are self-sponsored, so carry some cash. We are back in Bangalore around 9 PM.

## Itinerary

### Day 1: Lepakshi Temple, Jataayu Park & Adiyogi Sunset

An early start: we leave Bangalore at 6:00 AM, stop for breakfast on the highway and cross into Andhra Pradesh for Lepakshi, where the Veerabhadra Temple's ceiling murals, the hanging pillar and the monolithic Nandi take up the late morning. After the Jataayu viewpoint and lunch, the afternoon and evening belong to the Adiyogi at the Isha Yoga Center: time on the grounds, sunset behind the hills and the light and sound show before we start back. Expect to be home in Bangalore around 9:00 PM. Meals, snacks and entry fees are self-sponsored, so carry some cash.

- 6:00 AM Departure from Bangalore: Board the vehicle at your chosen pickup point and roll out of the city while the roads are still empty.
- 8:30 AM Breakfast stop on the highway: A halt at a highway eatery for breakfast and chai. Self-sponsored, so carry cash or UPI.
- 11:00 AM Lepakshi Veerabhadra Temple: Vijayanagara-era carvings, vivid ceiling murals, the hanging pillar that clears the floor and the giant monolithic Nandi outside.
- 1:00 PM Jataayu Park & the bird sculpture: Open country views and the enormous bird sculpture the spot is named after. Good light for photos.
- 2:00 PM Lunch at a local spot: A stop for a South Indian lunch on the way back into Karnataka. Self-sponsored.
- 3:00 PM Adiyogi at the Isha Yoga Center: The 112-foot Adiyogi bust against the Chikkaballapur hills. Walk the grounds, sit quietly or just take it in.
- 6:30 PM Sunset behind Adiyogi: The best half hour of the day: the light drops behind the hills and the statue turns to silhouette.
- 7:00 PM Light and sound show: The evening projection and sound show at the Adiyogi grounds before we start back.
- 7:30 PM Return drive to Bangalore: We leave around 7:30 PM and drop back at the pickup points by roughly 9:00 PM.

## FAQs

### What should I carry?

A government-issued ID (Aadhaar), comfortable shoes you can slip off at the temples, clothing that covers shoulders and knees, a cap and sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bottle, a light layer for the evening and cash or UPI for meals and entry fees.

### How strictly is the timeline followed?

We leave Bangalore at 6:00 AM sharp, so reach your pickup point ten minutes early. Everything after that is indicative: highway traffic, temple queues and crowd levels can move things by an hour either way, and the group travels together.

### Is it safe to travel with strangers?

Yes. Every departure travels with an experience captain, seats are assigned, and travellers are verified before the trip. Most people join solo and end the day with a new set of friends.

### How does GoWeekender match travellers?

Travellers are grouped by age band and interests so the group moves at a similar pace. You can see who else is on your departure in the app before the trip starts.

### Terms & conditions

The itinerary may be rearranged to suit availability without changing the total number of days or cutting any service. All guests must carry a government-issued ID. Confirmation of physical and mental fitness is required before the trip. No refund is provided for disruptions caused by government orders, harsh weather, protests, landslides or other unforeseen circumstances.
