## About this trip

Hampi in Karnataka is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 500 monuments in ruins that were once part of the capital of the glorious Vijayanagara Empire, regarded by many as the second-largest city of its time after Beijing. On the banks of the Tungabhadra, Hampi stands as the grandeur of ancient India, with intricate architecture across the ruins, brilliant engineering and a breathtaking landscape of boulders. Its most important structure is probably the Virupaksha Temple, dedicated to the patron deity of the empire.

But Hampi is not all about history. Across the river lies the hippie side, Anegundi, with its aesthetic cafés, cultural performances, cuisines from around the world and people who will give you a different outlook on life.

We leave Bangalore on Friday night at 9:30 PM and reach the stay across the river by morning. Day 1 is the laid-back side: Sanapur Lake and the Tungabhadra backwaters with an optional coracle ride, a hike up Anegundi Fort and the climb up Anjanadri Hill, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, for a legendary Hampi sunset, followed by dinner, music and stargazing at the stay. Day 2 crosses over to the heritage side: the Vijaya Vittala Temple with its Stone Chariot and musical pillars, Lotus Mahal and the Elephant Stables, the living Virupaksha Temple and the Hampi bazaar, before the drive back to Bangalore.

Stay is on a triple-sharing basis in cottages or multiple-sharing dorms, allotted according to the group's gender ratio, with breakfast on both days included. Lunches, dinner, the coracle ride and the heritage-site shuttle and guide charges are self-sponsored.

## Itinerary

### Day 1: Overnight Departure, Sanapur Lake, Anegundi Fort Hike & Anjanadri Sunset

After lunch we hike up the historic Anegundi Fort for panoramic valley views, and in the late afternoon climb Anjanadri Hill, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, for a legendary Hampi sunset over the Tungabhadra. The day ends at the stay with dinner, music, stargazing and great conversations.

## FAQs

### What should I carry?

Soft copy of your Aadhaar card, cargo or track pants and shorts, T-shirts, sunscreen, good-traction shoes for the hikes, two water bottles, cap and sunglasses, a personal medical kit, flip-flops for lazing around the stay, polybags for wet clothes, extra cash for meals not included in the itinerary, a power bank, a small backpack for the day, and most importantly your sense of humour and spirit of adventure.

### What is the check-in policy and how strictly is the daily timeline followed?

Activity & daily timeline: the hourly schedule is tentative and designed to give you the best experience. The order of places visited or the timings may change because of weather, traffic, local government restrictions or road conditions.
Early check-in: standard check-in times apply as per the stay's policy, and early check-in is strictly subject to room availability on arrival. Where it isn't available, common washrooms and freshen-up areas will be provided so you can get ready for the day's plan without delay.

### Is it safe to travel with strangers?

Safety is built into everything we do. Every member completes ID verification before joining. Our community review system means travellers build reputation through completed trips. Plus, tribes typically form through chat and video calls before any trip happens, so by the time you meet, they're not really strangers anymore.

### How does GoWeekender match travellers?

Our Vibe Check algorithm goes beyond basic preferences. We analyse your travel pace (relaxed explorer vs packed itinerary), adventure appetite (chill vibes vs adrenaline junkie), budget comfort zone, and interests like photography, street food or trekking. The result? You get matched with travellers who genuinely get you, not just people heading to the same place.

### How does group travel make adventures more accessible?

Simple math: split accommodation, shared transport and group rates on activities. What costs ₹15,000 solo often drops to ₹6,000-8,000 when you're travelling with your tribe. Beyond money, you also get shared planning effort, safety in numbers and, honestly, way better photos.
