The trip
Two very different kinds of wonder in one day out of Bangalore: a 112-foot Adiyogi bust that asks you to slow down, and a 16th-century temple whose pillars, murals and monolithic bull have been pulling people in for five hundred years.
We roll out of the city at 6 AM and drive north into Andhra Pradesh. First stop is Lepakshi, where the Veerabhadra Temple carries some of the finest Vijayanagara-era stonework anywhere: vivid ceiling murals, the famous hanging pillar that clears the floor, and just outside the complex, the giant monolithic Nandi. A short hop away, the Jataayu spot gives you open country views and its enormous bird sculpture.
The afternoon belongs to the Isha Yoga Center, where the Adiyogi sits against the Chikkaballapur hills. There is time to walk the grounds, sit quietly if that is what you came for, and stay on for sunset and the evening light and sound show before the drive home.
Travel is by private vehicle with a trip captain along, and state permits, tolls and driver charges are covered. Meals, snacks and any entry fees are self-sponsored, so carry some cash. We are back in Bangalore around 9 PM.

Questions about this trip
What should I carry?
A government-issued ID (Aadhaar), comfortable shoes you can slip off at the temples, clothing that covers shoulders and knees, a cap and sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bottle, a light layer for the evening and cash or UPI for meals and entry fees.
How strictly is the timeline followed?
We leave Bangalore at 6:00 AM sharp, so reach your pickup point ten minutes early. Everything after that is indicative: highway traffic, temple queues and crowd levels can move things by an hour either way, and the group travels together.
Is it safe to travel with strangers?
Yes. Every departure travels with an experience captain, seats are assigned, and travellers are verified before the trip. Most people join solo and end the day with a new set of friends.
How does GoWeekender match travellers?
Travellers are grouped by age band and interests so the group moves at a similar pace. You can see who else is on your departure in the app before the trip starts.
