The trip
Shut the laptop on Friday evening, board the bus as the city lights thin out, and wake up in the Western Ghats. This is a two-day, one-night backpacking weekend to Chikmagalur, built around big views, cold water and very good coffee.
Saturday is the big one. A 3 km climb takes you to Mullayanagiri, Karnataka's highest peak at 6,330 ft, where the ridgelines disappear into cloud. An off-road jeep trail then drops you at Jhari Waterfalls for a dip in the cold cascade, and the day closes with sunset over Hirekolale Lake and a campfire back at the hilltop campsite: music, dinner and long conversations under an open sky.
Sunday slows down. A morning walk through the coffee estate, outdoor games on the lawn, then a boat ride and water sports at Yagachi Reservoir, and finally the 12th-century Chennakeshava Temple at Belur, where Hoysala artisans covered every inch of stone in carving. Lunch on the way, a dinner halt on the highway, and you are back in Bengaluru by about 11:30 PM.
You travel in an AC tempo traveller or mini bus with an experienced trip captain, stay in tents and rooms on a multiple-sharing basis, and share the weekend with a small group of strangers who rarely stay strangers. Come for the peak, stay for the people.

Mullayanagiri Trek, Jhari Falls & Hirekolale Lake
The weekend starts on Friday night. Pickups run across Bengaluru — New Udupi Grand in HSR Layout at 9:30 PM, KLM Fashion Mall in Marathahalli at 10:00 PM, Domlur Sky Walk on Old Airport Road at 10:25 PM and Konkan Express near Yeshwanthpur Metro at 11:00 PM — and once everyone is aboard the AC tempo traveller or mini bus, your trip captain runs through the plan for the weekend. It is roughly an eight-hour overnight drive with music, travel games and cool night air. You get to the forest campsite early on Saturday morning, freshen up and fuel up with a hot breakfast amidst the hills. The day then belongs to Mullayanagiri: a 3 km trek to Karnataka's highest point at 6,330 ft, with cloud-kissed valley views the whole way up. After lunch in town comes a high-energy off-road jeep ride to the roaring Jhari (Buttermilk) Falls for a splash in the mountain pools, then sunset at Hirekolale Lake as the sky turns gold over still water. The day closes back at the campsite with a campfire, music, dinner and stargazing.

Plus, tribes typically form through chat and video calls before any trip happens, so by the time you meet, they're not really strangers anymore.
Are your trips safe for women?
On all of our trips, safety is non-negotiable and our priority. Female outdoor leaders accompany every group, the homestays and tent accommodations are secure, and we guarantee separate sleeping arrangements for men and women.
How does GoWeekender match travellers?
Our Vibe Check algorithm goes beyond basic preferences. We look at your travel pace (relaxed explorer versus packed itinerary), adventure appetite (chill vibes versus adrenaline junkie), budget comfort zone, and interests like photography, street food or trekking. The result is that you get matched with travellers who genuinely get you, not just people heading to the same place.
