The trip
Coorg, draped in an ever-present layer of clouds over its low-lying hills and surrounded by coffee plantations, is the place to be for any nature lover. Just about 270 km from Bangalore, this small misty town is the perfect weekend getaway after a tiring week.
We leave Bangalore on Friday night at 9:30 PM and reach the homestay by morning. Day 1 starts with breakfast, then a bumpy 4x4 jeep ride up to Mandalpatti for sweeping views of the Western Ghats, lunch in Madikeri town, the 70-foot Abbey Falls, the famous sunset at Raja's Seat and a quick spice-and-coffee shopping stop at Madikeri market. The night ends back at the stay with a bonfire, dinner, music and long conversations.
Day 2 is a slow morning amid the coffee estate before we check out for the Harangi Elephant Camp and Backwaters, where you can feed the elephants or try the water activities, followed by the golden halls of Namdroling Monastery. After lunch we drive back to Bangalore, reaching by around 11:30 PM.
Stay is in a homestay set inside a coffee estate, on triple and quad sharing, with breakfast on both days and dinner on Day 1 included. Lunches, the Mandalpatti jeep ride and Harangi camp activities are self-sponsored.

Questions about this trip
What should I carry?
Soft copy of your Aadhaar card, hand sanitiser, cargo or track pants and shorts, T-shirts, sunscreen, good-traction shoes, two water bottles, cap and sunglasses, a personal medical kit, flip-flops for lazing around the homestay, polybags for wet clothes, extra cash for meals not included in the itinerary, a power bank, a small backpack for the Mandalpatti ride, and most importantly your sense of humour and spirit of adventure.
What is the check-in policy and daily timeline?
The timeline may vary depending on traffic and weather, and early check-in at the homestay is subject to availability.
Is it safe to travel with strangers?
Safety is built into everything we do. Every member completes ID verification before joining. Our community review system means travellers build reputation through completed trips. Plus, tribes typically form through chat and video calls before any trip happens, so by the time you meet, they're not really strangers anymore.
How does GoWeekender match travellers?
Our Vibe Check algorithm goes beyond basic preferences. We analyse your travel pace (relaxed explorer vs packed itinerary), adventure appetite (chill vibes vs adrenaline junkie), budget comfort zone, and interests like photography, street food or trekking. The result? You get matched with travellers who genuinely get you, not just people heading to the same place.
What COVID-19 measures are in place?
Thermal screening at the pickup location and regular screening of staff, drivers and guides. Vehicles are thoroughly sanitised before the journey begins, and sanitiser, masks and gloves are available during the commute and at the stay.
