The trip
Pondicherry, often called Puducherry, is a charming coastal town on India's south-eastern coast. Steeped in a blend of French and Indian influences, the Union Territory has a laid-back, multicultural vibe: the French Quarter's cobblestone streets and colonial villas transport you to another era, while bustling markets and Tamil culture show the town's other face. Serene beaches like Promenade and Paradise Beach, the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and the experimental township of Auroville complete the picture.
This 2-day, 1-night getaway from Bangalore starts with a sunrise on Rock Beach, a morning at Auroville with the golden Matrimandir viewpoint, cafe hopping for lunch and an afternoon of water sports and beach shacks at Sand Dunes Paradise Beach. Day 2 is all White Town: the historic Notre Dame des Anges church, pastel French villas, the French War Memorial, Bharathi Park and the Aurobindo Ashram, lunch at a heritage cafe, then a tranquil boat ride through mangrove forests before the drive back to Bangalore.

Leave the city noise behind on Friday night and set off towards the French Riviera of the East. We start our journey overnight from Bangalore to Pondicherry at 09:30 PM and enjoy a road trip of around 10 hours with music and a cool breeze. Board your travel coach from your designated pick-up location, catch up on sleep, and gear up for a vibrant weekend of coastal sunrises, French architecture, cafe hopping and beach vibes. Pick-up Locations & Timings: 09:30 PM: Udupi Grand (Teacher’s Colony, HSR Layout) 10:00 PM: KLM Fashion Mall (Marathahalli Village) Arrive in Pondicherry just as dawn breaks over the ocean to witness a breathtaking sunrise along Rock Beach or Pondi Marina Beach. After checking in and freshening up over breakfast, we head to Auroville, the experimental "City of Dawn", to absorb its serene spiritual energy and admire the iconic Matrimandir from the viewing point. Next, dive into Pondicherry’s famous cafe culture for lunch before heading to the golden shores of Sand Dunes Paradise Beach. Indulge in shopping at the local craft bazaars and enjoy lunch at an aesthetic French cafe. In the afternoon, head out for a tranquil boat ride through lush mangrove forests (subject to weather and availability). Wrap up the day and begin the return journey to Bangalore with unforgettable memories.
